During the time of the Black Death, people would dance through the streets dressed as skeletons to trick the Plague away by pretending everyone was already dead. In fact, the dance of death has its recorded roots in France in the 1400s. Today, you can see these reenacted at Renaissance faires across the country--and see our interpretation of these musical skeletons from period Holbein woodcuts posturing on pottery.
